Cancellations and Refund Policy

Refunds

We can accept refund requests up to 30 days before an event. Unless under extenuating circumstances, we cannot accept refund requests less than 30 days before a conference date. 

  • Within 15 days of purchase: Attendees who cancel their registration within 15 days of the original purchase date are entitled to a refund, minus a 5% processing fee.
  • Up to 30 days before a conference: Attendees who cancel registration more than 30 days before the conference start date are entitled to a 50% refund.
  • Extenuating Circumstances: Attendees may be eligible for a full refund if they are forced to do so due to a serious health issue, family emergency, or other serious issue that prevents them from attending.

Financial Hardship Policy

To accommodate all members of the Board Game Academics community, we are committed to offering support to those experiencing financial hardship. While our goal is to offer affordable, accessible resources and events, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may create an undue burden that limits access.

Eligibility

BGA members who demonstrate financial hardship may be eligible for a fee reduction or waived admission. Criteria for consideration include:

  • Recent unemployment
  • Medical emergency or family emergency
  • Significant financial obligations.

Applying for Financial Hardship Support

To apply for financial assistance, you must submit a written application at least two weeks before the conference start date. Unfortunately, any applications received after this date will not be considered. In your application, please include: a brief explanation of your situation, contact information, and a summary of any elements you feel are relevant to your application. Financial assistance applies only to the conference registration fees. It does not include meals, lodging, or travel. All application materials are kept confidential for internal review only.
